So I tried to plug in my Xbox One Spectra controller to play a game. Nothing, no response. I look at the Device Manager and it tells me the only thing it has is an Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed). There is no Xbox Controller driver of any variety listed anywhere. I double-checked Windows Update--it assures me it's up-to-date. But win 10 was simply plug n play and i did not have to install anything as it is natively supported. If it is not working it is likely a motherboard port issue rather than the windows driver for the controller. But you could get the driver and manually install it if you wish to try that. But updating the usb drivers and such for the motherboard is probably the best first step for win 10 not working with it. It tells me its installed, but if I try to manually select the driver it just doesn't show up, I have to uncheck compatible driver and get the giant list of manufacturer's and models--I still don't see any controller drivers listed anywhere, and the controller still isn't responding. Do you know how to solve it? When i made my decision to buy i went with wired due to all the issues getting the adapter to work with win 7. Hey all, I seem to be having issues installing drivers onto my attached usb devices. Whenever I plug in my xbox one / xbox 360 controller, I will get the ding that windows has recognized an attached device then the controller shuts off. In the device manager it claims the driver is not installed on my xbox one controller (code 1) and when I go to install the driver (I navigate and find the driver on my computer) I get this issue 'Windows found drivers for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install them.
I think its because its rock candy, does it say its compatible with windows? I usually only recommend getting the microsoft 360 controller because of issues like this. I called tech support and spent about an hour on the phone for nothing they could not help me. Windows 10 is very finicky with drivers. Hopefully they fix issues with this in the future. I tried everything I could. Microsoft is not releasing the drivers because they are pre built into the system. The problem is once the system identifies the device, regardless if the drivers are found, it finishes the installation. You however get an incomplete installation.
