Nov 22, 2013 Upright freezer by: Anonymous Our 10 year old upright freezer started this 'popping' about 6 months ago. We have an extended service contract with Sears (Frigidaire Commercial 9 cu ft), they came out but could find nothing wrong. There is a removable service panel on the inside, but the screws were tight. It sounds like metal expanding.

Not sure how old this Maytag is since it came with the house but it looks fairly recent. May 20, 2015 Frigidaire Refrigerator Nightmare! By: RB The appliances today are just high price pieces of plastic junk. Shortly after I purchased my 5 yr old $800 standard fridge ot began making this loud Popping noises that wakes me out of sleep EVERY night!I've had 5 refrigerators in the last 15 yrs! From $1700 DOWN, yes I refuse to pay that much if I'm not getting a better product! I've had EVERY brand except GE.

There is a removable service panel on the inside, but the screws were tight. It sounds like metal expanding. I sent and E-Mail to the company two weeks ago and have heard nothing from them. Freezes fine, but the noise is getting old. Frigidaire won't be on my shopping list. Mar 14, 2013 New Frigidaire is Also Loud by: Anonymous We had to make a spur-of-the-moment refrigerator purchase when our old one quit working. We bought a black Frigidaire (Model # FFHT2126PB0) with the freezer on top.

Hope this follow-up is helpful to others cuz I know my experience was an absolute 'pain in the you know what'! 😀 (Finally!!!). Jul 22, 2015 Ice Maker to blame on my Maytag by: Sleeping Again French door Maytag refrigerator with bottom freezer drawer was making loud popping sounds.

Cons: Noisy, no tech support. Jul 24, 2016 Samsung French Door same gunshot sounds by: Anon G I have had the exact same problem as everyone else here. Loud gunshot popping sounds when the compressor shuts down. It scares the hell out of me every time. Can hear the pops from the other side of the house, and wakes me if the bedroom door is kept open. Had Samsung service techs here 4 times. They cant find anything wrong and basically trying to say it's normal.

Aug 03, 2017 To: p1salmons - Popping Noise by: upnorthjonny I tried a simple tweak that significantly improved the situation. The capillary tube running up to the fridge compartment had about 5' of extra line coiled up near the compressor.

An order number listed was (877) 486-2371. I have seen several references to a recall list, but have not found this list yet. I will be calling Maytag (Whirl Pool) on Monday. Well, my saga has now begun with my 2007 side by side Maytag French door refrigerator, model # MFI2568AES.

The top mount refrigerator has loud popping noises that occur at odd times through the day and night. A technician did some work a number of years ago and wrapped duct tape around something in the back area of the freezer on the left side.

It lasts for approx 10 seconds, but it happens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We were told it is Freon expansion! The compressor is just a pump and pushes the gas through the refrigeration lines. For some reason some Frigidaire models are noisy. We had a technician over and we were told its normal. I've worked in HVAC on compressors, chillers, air conditioners, cooling towers, heat pumps and have never heard those types of noises coming from 134a gases.

I believe when I was pressing on the sides when it was cooling down the first time, I was feeling and hearing the panel inside fighting with its mounting. So far, it still makes other noises, but not the popping or banging. Also, remember, most refrigerators run defrost cycle twice a day. Apr 11, 2018 Still the same NEW by: Anonymous Fridge is still making very loud popping noises and the 'wrrrrr' sound on occasion.

It still cools well. But the noise is very annoying. I'm no engineer, but I would think it is the refrigerant gas suddenly expanding as it hits the coils in the fridge. A basic design flaw? Needless to say, I would not buy another one. Feb 08, 2012 Compressor pop by: David My Kenmore side by side refrigerator has a pop/crack each time the compressor turns on or off.

This allows the panel to expand and contract when it gets hot and cold. Iv had side by sides (what an absolute waste, with running water that kept running & lots of food loss.

No one told me that this is supposed to be a new 'normal' noise for 'new, modern refrigerators'. If I had known, I would have kept my old refrigerator until it died. I certainly hope that with all these complaints that I'm seeing about new refrigerators being noisy, the 'smart' people who design the next newer ones will figure out a way to stop this horrible defect and start making quiet refrigerators once again. And, I'm getting my old fridge back too! Dec 27, 2014 My parent's Frigidaire nightmare by: Marie 2014 The fridge worked ok for approx 4 years.

Apr 28, 2015 Whirlpool After All These Years by: Anonymous I purchased a Whirlpool in 1998. It has been perfect from day one.

Other than all of the racket this thing makes, it seems to be working OK. Jan 20, 2018 Loud Popping noise from refrigerator freezer wall NEW by: George I recently added Freon to my 10 yr old GE side by side do to not cooling properly (with all other systems functioning properly) then got night time loud popping noises from freezer side wall. Though it's working well otherwise, after reading the tech comment about a slight over service of freon in system, I am fairly sure I will lessen the freon charge slightly, through the saddle piercing valve I installed, to try to stop this never before obnoxious night time noise!!!

If it takes another 10 years to go out this part may no longer be available. Again.caveat emptor!

The fan is located near the back of the machine, sometimes behind a thin panel. To clean it, first unplug the refrigerator, remove the thin panel, and use a soft bristle brush to clean it. If there is no lint build-up or debris on the blade, you will have to replace the motor. • The defrost timer is often located at the bottom of the refrigerator, near the front and behind the kick plate.

So thank you for this post! I am going to try your suggestion tonight. It will be my first soldering experience, but i figure what more can i really damage if the entire board needs to be replaced?! Thanks again!!! Had to add my 2 bits.be careful when you go to your appliance store and purchase the HV PCB! When I went in to pick up mine, the new one off the shelf had swollen capacitors on it just like the ones that I read about on some of the fix-it-yourself blogs! I asked the salesman if he had another one.

My next step is to try and put the old board back in. Hey Scott- after several calls to Maytag and posts on their Facebook, they have refused to help pay for this issue, stating that my serial number is not affected. My logic back to them after they explained that the serials affected were from a known bad batch of control boards, was there a possibility that since this is the same problem known bad boards were having, doesn't it stand to reason that there were more than just that bad batch. If you know there is a problem, why not fix them all? Why prejudice 1 batch. Fix 1- fix them all. But apparently my logic was beyonf their comprehension.

Very annoying. It worked normally for a month or two, then began the popping noises. It still cools well. But the noise is very annoying. I'm no engineer, but I would think it is the refrigerant gas suddenly expanding as it hits the coils in the fridge.

And if some tech or CS rep tells you this is 'normal', you can politely tell 'em that you know better. Sorry this post is so long.

I bought mine online and picked it up locally from Ideal Appliance.no core charge was charged on the website ($60) and no requirement to return the old board to get the core charge back. When I went in the store, the salesman said there is always a core charge but he could not charge it to me since the website had taken my credit card and concluded the transaction.

I am so exited and thankful but worried that since it is not the exact uf (whatever this means in simple terms) that something will go wrong.its been 3 days and all is fine. Here is the question that i hope you can help me with: leave it as is and keep praying or replace it with the same uF ones that are due this Friday?

Should I be pressing harder or talking to someone else? I need my fridge fixed so I have a service call in a few days. I finally got this issue addressed.

I am surprised to see that the issue is affecting some non-Samsung units as well, so I don't feel quite so stupid about our choice. Other than the popping the fridge works just great. My old 20 year old refrigerator that this one replaced was extremely quiet (GE) - never made any noises at all - so this one so far has been a major disappointment. Mar 11, 2012 Popping noise every cycle by: Anonymous Bought a top of the line Frigidaire fridge back in 2009 (Gallery Professional top freezer model) at Sears. Makes popping noises with every cycle. Very annoying.

To anyone else who is concerned that the replacement parts differ than what's on the board, the caps are wired in parallel so if you add both values together (on board) and compare to the replacement parts, you'll find the replacements a only a tad larger. But caps vary +/- 20 in value brand new, so that's 'close enough' for power supplies like this. The goal was to use parts that could be bought locally the same day so the freezer could be back online before it defrosted. That methodology saved at least one Thanksgiving dinner from ruin:-) The doc is copyrighted but free to use and re-distribute in a non-commercial environment - meaning owners fixing their own stuff - as long as it's used and redistributed in its entirety.

You know the saying: 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'. So for now I'll let this ride and continue to monitor the unit over time. The mod I performed will not invalidate your warranty, as long as you don't damage anything in the process. If your warranty has expired though, you may want to go a step farther and follow the directions for extending the capillary further into the compressor compartment, and fastening it to the discharge (liquid) line for a more efficient heat exchanger. The author claims this is 100% effective in eliminating the pops, but I can't confirm this.

How could I do that when they didn't deliver it until after the 48 hours when I bought it?? Whatever happened to 30 days or 3 months??? It just shows you how our companies have become scumbag ripoff artists, Cant trust any of the Greeeeeedy Idiots!!!!!!!!

Maytag Refrigerator Troubleshooting Noise

People are told by the stores they bought them from, the manufacturers of their make and from service repair people that this is (the new) normal, even if it doesn't start from day one (what the?&&@??). People (consumers) are pissed off!!!!! Though these complaints are about noise only, mine has been making these same loud popping noises since it seems the fridge compartment quit maintaining a cold enough temp to keep food from spoiling (early December). [freezer working/no ice maker]. In one of the the complaint/comments, a person said they were told by a service-repair-man that you are lucky to get more than 5 years out of a fridge now a days!!! What bull crap! The wonderful world of modern technology!!!

There are other odd sounds throughout the day which I can live with. Apart from the noise the fridge operation is okay. Jun 30, 2018 Frigidaire popping noise (how to view the Purdue.edu doc) NEW by: Anonymous Chris.it sounds, from your brief description, that the noise you are describing is different than the one I had. My refrigerator made a popping noise, more like pop corn popping. There were many pops for about 30 seconds when the compressor first started. After 30 seconds the popping noise stopped until the next time the compressor started. You seem to be experiencing a single loud pop that happens several times throughout the day.

Scott, you weren't kidding about the instructions being tricky since they sent me the instructions for a dryer:( It was actually fairly trivial to replace the board and program the controller board. I tried to use the code from the inside of my fridge which was 1411 but it did not take this code. After looking around the web most people that had 1411 were also not able to program the board and they had to use 0302. Now though, neither the fridge or the freezer is cooling.

Yes, it is a single loud crack/pop that is sometimes louder than others. I had checked a few times immediately after the sound to see what was happening with the fridge. Everything was quiet, nothing was running. But then about two days later there was the normal running sound (compressor?) immediately after the noise. So I can't find any pattern. There are other odd sounds throughout the day which I can live with. Apart from the noise the fridge operation is okay.

Maytag Refrigerator Noise

Said I could spend the 4400 plus tax on the warranty or set up a repairman for $150 fo the diagnosis alone plus parts and labor to fix it. Given this is such a reoccuring issue, i think maytag should be paying for it. Any suggestions? Just keep complaining? I do not ahve the expertise to repair this myself. I have a MFI2067AES fridge and the lights on the control panel never flashed, they just went out.

Maytag Refrigerator Clicking Noise

By: Anonymous We have the same issue -- our Frigidaire fridge is making the same loud popping noise!! It's a brand new fridge, just plugged it in and there's a popping noise every compressor cycle. It lasts for approx 10 seconds, but it happens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We were told it is Freon expansion! The compressor is just a pump and pushes the gas through the refrigeration lines.

Bought a Kenmore bottom-freezer fridge/freezer last November, and since the day it was delivered it has made a noise when the compressor kicks on that sounds like syncopated knocking or popping noises. It almost sounds like 'hard' bubbles popping inside a pressurized plastic line, if that makes sense. I had Sears' home service out to look at the unit, and the tech said it's part of the new (worse) design, something about the way two plastic lines of differing inside diameters are joined together and the pressure difference. I specifically asked if this could cause wear problems down the line with the compressor or other parts of the cooling system and he said 'no'. Not for nothing, but I don't believe the guy. After 40 years of refrigerators whose only sound is the fan, I have to put up with a refrigerator that knocks like my car's engine when I forget to put premium gas in the tank?
